Nashville & New Music

posted November 19, 2006

I just got back from a great trip to Nashville, despite the fact that I was only there for about 24 hours.

While I was there I met up with 5 Time Grammy Award Winning Producer and Engineer Brent Maher. Brent is responsible for writing and producing more number 1 hits than I have time time to name, but lets just say he's worked with The Judds, Jo Dee Messina, Shelby Lynne, Kenny Rogers, Kathy Mattea, Nickel Creek, Wynonna, Carl Perkins, Bobby Darin, Olivia Newton-John, Dottie West, Ike & Tina Turner and many others.

The guy is a legend, not to mention a truly nice guy, and a musical genius. If you would have asked me before I met him I would have told you I thought that those qualities were mutually exclusive :). His daughter Dianna was also there to meet with me and I can tell you that this musical family is a true class act. They're making lots of headway with some very exciting ventures that I hope to be a part of.

They also introduced me to Johnny Reid I'm blown away by his music. He is one of the freshest artists that I have heard hit the scene in years and I look forward to following his career in one way or another for many years.

I flew up with my good friend, hitmaker and producer, Billy Chapin. Billy was working on some tracks with Atomic Blonde with legendary producer/engineer Chris Omartian at the Sound Kitchen. These girls were a trip. Everything you would hope that a punk band made up of girls would be. Be on the lookout for these tracks soon.

Lastly I met up with Paul Rogers of Hi-Def Entertainment. He just finished wrapping up Kickin' it Old School, the comedy featuring Jamie Kennedy. This sounds like its going to be a hilarious movie. Check it out when it hits theaters in February.
